Our magazine front cover is very eye catching. This is because the colours we use are very bright, so it attracts the reader's eye. The brightest colour is the flame from the bunsen burner, and we enhanced it slightly to make it even more bright to the eye. The flame also gets across the message that the magazine is about science. The text also stands out from the background because it is placed on whitespace, therefore the reader can easily see it and can then read it easier. For the title we made it multi-coloured on a white background. The multi-colours stand out from the white so the reader will probably be attracted to the title first, which is good because they will learn what the magazine is about before they read any of the other text. For the text explaining featured articles we put a shadow behind it so it once again stands out from the background and the eye gets attracted to it. We used a blue background because a lot of backgrounds are either black and white
We want the reader to read on and get involved with our magazine. To achieve this we made the text interesting, for example 'Win £500 in todays issue'. This will make the reader on because most people will be interested in winning £500. We want the reader to be persuaded by our magazine by the use of text. The text does this as it engages the reader because it gets them involved with the magazine.
The text is also quite memorable because the reader will think that if you can win £500 in this issue, then you might be able to win more money or something different in another issue. This will make them come back the the magazine, and possibly read each issue. We also added 'Win a trip to science world' which is memorable because if they are reading a science magazine then it is the kind of prize the reader would like to win otherwise they wouldn't be reading a magazine about science. This will make the reader come back for more.
If we were to improve our magazine then we would compare it to other magazines to make sure it is not too boring, or just needs to be improved. We would also show pupils our front cover and ask if they would buy it and what improvements we could make to make it more appealing to their eyes.
